A Portuguese silver letter opener with a tiger’s head in the handle. The maker’s mark “FMT”, it’s from Ourivesaria Topázio originated in 1874 when Manuel José Ferreira Marques founds the company Ferreira Marques & Irmão. In 1934, heirs Gabriel and Silvestre Ferreira Marques created the Topázio brand in honor of their Mother, a great lover of the gemstone. The silver hallmark is not visible, but probably it’s Porto, Águia 925‰.
